Mayor and Council vote a 75% salary Increase for Themselves!
Monday, May 14th, 2007
On Thursday, May 10th, following the PV Planning meeting, an “Emergency Meeting” was called by Larry Tarkowski, through Mayor Skoog. In that meeting the mayor and council approved by a 6-1 vote (Flannery no) an increase of 75% for mayor and councilmembers salaries to $1,050 and $700 per month respectfully (?). Our crack paper, the Daily Developer or Daily Dissapointment by some, reported on MONDAY, May 14th; only 4 days later!
Maybe this is why the mayor and council were so quick to approve a 30% rate increase in our water and sewer bills in August 06. One could argue why would they be so willing to raise their own costs so high. NOTE: If the water company were private as before (Shamrock owned by the Fains), the Arizona Corporation Commission would NOT have allowed such an increase.
Once again, the people have a “reason” to wakeup and let their political obligation act. That action could take the form of a “Total Recall” of the developer controlled officials of Prescott Valley. Or, more likely, a few citizens will complain publicly and the rest will yawn and say; ” It’s not right, but, what can anyone do”. With the recall of Mayor Killingsworth and V-Mayor Fagelman in 04, some would say; “We cleaned out 2 stalls but we needed to clean the whole barn”.
