Principals Over Politics (POP)

March 18th, 2008

Mexican - UPSIDE Down USAFlagAs a soon to be 70 year old man, I reflect back on my memories of politics. As a kid of 6-7 living on a farm in Lambertville, Michigan in 1944-45, I recall my grandfather Irv Robinson arguing against government telling him what to plant or not to plant. He hated it. On the other hand, as a result of his 4th grade education and his brother (Burt) ’s belonging to the Socialist’s Labor Party; we received the “Weekly People” and their articles on Karl Marx and I V Lenin. This was the “retail” organization of the Communist Party, USA which was started in Chicago in 1919.

Following WWII, I remember Dwight Eisenhower as president and some of his efforts to cut back the military-industrial complex and the thousands of military bases set up everywhere. Resistance to “cut - backs” came from everywhere as Aunt Minnie and Uncle Fred “worked” at these installations! Ike stuck by his guns, and closures occurred all across America. People were hungry for “things” after five years of war and money but nothing to spend it on. Early 1942 model cars were the last automobiles built as manufactures moved to built jeeps and tanks. Therefor, a pent up demand for consumer goods including new homes for delayed marriages and delayed families exploded onto the scene. In those days, we were all Patriotic Americans; Democrats and Republicans alike.

Now lets fast forward to 2008. The Democratic Party has been taken over by socialists who have been schooled by the Communist as they moved through large city public schools and entered the current breeding ground of world socialism; our college schools of “Social Studies - Public Administration and Journalism”. Later, Ethnic Studies brought us ‘Political Correctness” and the mantra; “Only white males who have run the Western World can be racist”. If you reflect on the major newspapers and major news networks over time, you see the “bias” of Political Correctness (PC) reflected in minor comments by prominent white men on people of color being ridiculed and even fired for their comments.

As the presidential election of 2008 moves closer, we now see efforts of socialism in America as it has “tainted” our choices. For the first time ever we have a woman, a black man and a white man as our choices. Certainly we can hope all the critical issues facing the USA will be discussed and enough people will be paying attention .

Are we paying attention or are we emotionally involved with the “theater” and emotional pleasure of electing a woman or a black man? Are we over looking history and the facts? We do so to our peril. Be alert to the bias favoring the “values of the PC crowd who populate most of the media outlets. Talk radio and cable news offer stark difference to this bias but are often overlooked.

Our choice for our next president does not include a principled position on energy independence or border closure or American values as we go forward. The socialist one worlders (D) have joined up with the world Capitalist (R) to the desecration of the United States of America. May God save the USA. As for me, as I enter my 70th year; I have seen a lot, but, I fear for future generations who have forgotten the sacrifices of the Fathers of our Country. Tom Steele Ed.

A Prison in Prescott Valley - Who Benefits?

October 12th, 2007

PV Jail InmateThe proposed private prison announced by Gary Marks, Ex. Director of the Prescott Valley Economic Development Foundation (PVEDF), would be located on 100 acres of Fain Family Trust land (FFT), North and East of Fain Road and highway 69. Marks announced the 2,000 bed minimum security prison would employ 3-400 people and have an annual payroll of 10 Million. Inmates would be short term DUI and drug offenders. The proposal would expect the town of PV to pay for all costs of providing utilities to the site. This cost has not been calculated as of 10/12/07.
After several hours of web search, I have concluded very few would benefit initially and the town would suffer long term. First, crime. As a town grows, crime grows faster; about 30% faster than the population. The addition of a 2,000 (plus growth) bed jail would bring convicted felons into PV from all over the state and beyond. Friends and family of the inmates will be visiting and where will they “hang-out” or stay? How many will be “gang-bangers” or associates of professional criminals? Not considering the potential of prisoner escapes, their associates will be free to move about in our community.
We can expect our property values to drop. New businesses and new resident construction will slow. The Humbold Unified School District (HUSD) will be affected as all schools, students and parents prepare for the ‘possibilities” of added violence within 5 miles of most schools.

The addition of this facility will undo all the value added by the new event center, new shopping center(s) and hotel complex. If approved by the town council; the prison will be here for decades to come. Most facilities will grow in size and increase in risk to the community as “higher risk” inmates ase housed. Our options are to fight the project now; or perhaps live in a prison community forever.

WHAT YOU CAN DO !

I suggest calling the Mayor and council members (759-3100) seperately and asking for their vote to reject this project. Also, speak to your neighbors, your school and church to gain their support. You can also E-Mail the mayor and council at: council@pvaz.net Ask for the message to be “printed out” for the mayor and each council member. Plan on attending  PV town meetings on, Thursday, October 18th and hopefully STOP a vote for approval on Thursday, October 25th. Council meetings start at 5:30 PM, in council chambers, first floor, in Town Hall.

In addition, you can write letters to the editor of the Daily Courier at editor@prescottaz.net or jherrman@prescottaz.net for the PV Tribune.

Final note; the “power brokers” includes the newspapers and the wealthy land owners; developers. Only YOU can stop this project by influencing the PV council members to vote NO!

Mexican - UPSIDE Down USAFlagThis new book (2007) describes in detail, the unofficial but real planning by President Bush involving “unofficially”,  the WallStreet Journal, the Council on Foriegn Relations (CFR), Condoleezza Rice, Micheal Chertoff and Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez.

Feburary 16th, 2001. Less than one month after election, Bush met with Vincente Fox in Guanajuanto, Mexico and both presidents spoke later of a mutual “prosperity partnership”. Infact, shortly before 9-11, Fox came to Washington to gain Amnesty for all Mexican citizens living in the USA.

Americans Speak Out on Immigration - Save our Culture!

June 10th, 2007

Mexifornia

Back in 1987 in California, I attended a luncheon for candidates for U S Senate. Sonny Bono, (R CA) was ask by a reporter what his opinion was on “Illegal immigration”. Sonny slowly changed his expression, looked at the reporter and said: “You did say ILLEGAL didn’t you?” No further comment.

Receintly the Democrat controlled Senate, with President Bush’s hearty approval, attempted to approve “Comprehensive Immigration Reform”. Thank God it has been stalled, but NOT stopped.

The Christian Science Monitor, July 6, 2006, carried an essay by John Dillin titled:….  ” How Eisenhower solved illegal border crossings from Mexico”. The essay describes how big agriculture through border governors and congressmen attempted to de-rail Ike’s plans. IKE Hired a West Point friend, a retired general, “Jumpin Joe” Swing to head up “Operation Wetback”. Ike had determined that border congressmen were responsible for a “relaxation” of federal rules and lost enforcement. (This was 1953)

With about 1,075 border control agents (1/10th of current staff) General Swing  fanned out from the border to farms and businesses with about 750 agents and had a goal of arresting 1,000 illegals per day.  In 6 weeks over 50,000 had been caught in 2 states and another 488,000 fearing arrest; fled the country. By September, 80,000 had been arrested in Texas and 500-700,000 more had gone back. Utah, Nevada and Idaho were also cleared in the first 2 1/2 months.

In 2003, a total of 25 illegals were processed by immigration court and sent back. In 2006, I C E actions sent 137 packing from 750 arrests following a lot of publisity. Meanwhile, 12-20 Million illegals are in every state in the 48 continential states of America. Bush has processed less than 10% of President Clinton!

President Eisenhower’s plan is the only efficient plan to be used today. Close the border then require each employer to prove legal residency for each employer. This could be done by computer from each business and the cost(s) would be minimal. In 18 months ALL illegals would loose their jobs and most would remove themselves from the country with their children in tow.

Without a strict plan to remove illegals, our country and the American Culture will be lost over time. This is the “goal” of leftist-world socialists such as Senators Clinton and Shummer of New York along with 10-15 other Democrats belonging to the “Pogressive Caucus”. Make a point of contacting your US Represenatives and leting them know your feelings; NOW!  It’s not over by a long shot! Prepare!

Mayor and Council vote a 75% salary Increase for Themselves!

May 14th, 2007

pvpics1106-003.jpgOn Thursday, May 10th, following the PV Planning meeting, an “Emergency Meeting” was called by Larry Tarkowski, through Mayor Skoog. In that meeting the mayor and council approved by a 6-1 vote (Flannery no) an increase of 75% for mayor and councilmembers salaries to $1,050 and $700 per month respectfully (?). Our crack paper, the Daily Developer or Daily Dissapointment by some, reported on MONDAY, May 14th; only 4 days later!

Maybe this is why the mayor and council were so quick to approve a 30% rate increase in our water and sewer bills in August 06. One could argue why would they be so willing to raise their own costs so high. NOTE: If the water company were private as before (Shamrock owned by the Fains), the Arizona Corporation Commission would NOT have allowed such an increase.

Once again, the people have a “reason” to wakeup and let their political obligation act. That action could take the form of a “Total Recall” of the developer controlled officials of Prescott Valley. Or, more likely, a few citizens will complain publicly and the rest will yawn and say; ” It’s not right, but, what can anyone do”. With the recall of Mayor Killingsworth and V-Mayor Fagelman in 04, some would say; “We cleaned out 2 stalls but we needed to clean the whole barn”.

The Cooling World (1975) Global Warming (2000)

April 23rd, 2007

Thumb Butte Winter Thumb Butte in Winter dress. Beautiful! In April 1975, Newsweek Magazine, covered,”The Cooling World” by Peter Gwynne (page 64). “Ominous signs that’s the earths weather patterns have begun to change dramatically” and that it would drastically reduce food production in the world. In fact, climatologists proposed covering artic ice with black soot to increase melting.

For a few years now we have been informed the earth is warming; and it is. General information shows a .6 to .7 of one degree increase over the past 10 years.  However, if you read or view programing outside the liberal press venues you will call into question the validity of the hysteria of Al Gore and his movie “An Inconvient Truth”.  Joseph Goebbels (1897-1945) Nazi Minister for Public Enlightenment, would be proud of the new “Big Lie” that he used effectively.

In the 1960’s -1970’s there were scares of a mini ice age. Ice core samples show CO2 readings (1300’s) higher than receint times while the temperature was going DOWN! What is missing in most liberal reports today is any reference to activity of our Sun which has 30-50 year cycles of hyper activity and we are in one now. Since the Sun IS our sourse of life it makes more sense that this is causal to our temp rise more so than “Man Made” carbon dioxide computer models that only show a continuance of a rise; no fluctuations at all.

World Socialism is behind what is primarly a political anti-capitalist ploy; not science. Recall the Kyoto Accord which required all developed Western countries to cutback their CO2 emmissions to save the planet. However, China, India and other “emerging” nations were not required to participate.

NEWS FLASH: 4-24-07 “China to pass USA as worst CO2 polluter by 2010.”

Additionally, the use of nuclear power to reduce fossil fuel use (and therefor CO2 emmissions) could NOT be counted!

Clearly, if the actual goal was to reduce carbon emissions, ALL countries would have to be included AND nuclear reactors would be promoted; not discounted. These two issues are glaring examples of socialist pressure coming mainly from Europe. Open your “view” and look up nuclear power on Google and see the positive contributions made by nuclear energy for power generation around the world. There is enough fuel from deactivated atomic bombs to power all the worlds reactors for 500 years and beyond! That could mean NO WARS for oil in the world. Also, no threatening action to/from foriegn lands regarding oil.

Add power from bio fuels for efficient diesel power to electricity from nuclear reactors, and we could be energy independent in 10 years. If we can only find a Kennedy or a Truman; a strong U S President to stand up to “big Oil” it could happen!

Are you a part of the solution?

Prescott Newspapers, Inc. (PNI) Protect Developers; Not Us

April 17th, 2007

pvpapers307-002.jpg ”We depend on “Growth” to grow” (It seems)

As the “desert Southwest” copes with another period of extended drought, we hold our breath on new home developers interests “protected” by the biased media in our area; PNI. The lost revenues of the current loss in construction activity and low home sales has not been touched in the PNI papers. PV tax revenues ARE  way down.

Coverage of council meetings are often without negative comment although numerous issues were disputed. PNI editorials are predictabily promote growth and are in support of those elected officials who pray at the alter of the “Land Barons”.

Our area is missing a “free press” that also provides expression of ideas in opposition to growth. Or at least presents argument(s) against development or growth.  Biased reporting -editorials  is NOT a “FREE PRESS” !

I have been use to a daily paper that, on occasion, presents a series on say; “Loafing Public Works Crews”, or, “Major developer  provides money to town manager’s 401K” expose. Instead, we are provided with the developer edited (or provided) version. My No votes  were never explained in the Daily Courier even though I explained why I was voting against Land Baron (Fain) interests. Unbiased coverage would have allowed the reader to evaluate and consider the merit of my position(s).

There is NO investigative journalism in the Prescott Valley area; none.

You will note continuous “Puff pieces” from the Fain Signature Group (FSG) and Gary Marks, Director of the heavily tax-funded, PV Economic Development Foundation in the business news section. Have you EVER seen articles challenging unrestricted growth?

Indepth unbiased articles on our critical water issues?

Was the Fain Event Center in PV ever criticized for its excessive cost to taxpayers? No. Was my challenge to Mayor Skoog and the council at the Emergency Meeting Dec. 23rd, 2006 ever noted? No one (mayor or council) could answer how the “(Tax protection act)” grew the financing of the event center from 23M to 35M.  Not one; even though they had just voted “yes” on this “emergency” measure!

The reporter for the Courier, who attended the meeting, never interviewed me regarding my challenge, as tipical of the bias of the editors and ownership of the paper. This is not the exercise of a free press informing the public as a “Sentential”, but rather as something out of “Pravada”; the state controlled press of the Soviet Union. Want to do something about it?

Consider contacting the following: The Yavapai Yellow Sheet sales@hedspublishing.com  or Lonesome Valley News at: LVN@cableone.net or Read It Here News at erica@readitnews.com . Maybe we can encourage greater coverage of “the truth” on issues critical to “Quality of Life”.  It’s up to you!

Photo Radar - It’s Working in Prescott Valley!

April 11th, 2007

photoradar407-003.jpg  Sergeant W. Nelson, supervises photo radar.

Do the Crime; PAY the fine. The technology PROVES the violation. Letters to the editor would indicate there is “something wrong”; “I” didn’t or don’t, speed or run red lights! HOWEVER; pictures don’t lie. The computer screen the PV sworn officer studies before the ticket is issued provides pictures of the driver, vehicle and license plate. Also present is a 15 second movie of the event displaying speed and in the case of a fixed red light violation, the time in the “Red zone” and speed. You also have the opportunity to go online and “See your violation” by entering your code number. Basicly, your dead meat!

Six months into the program, violations have DECREASED 60%. Over a 3 month period, fixed red light violations have DROPPED 66% and speeding; 54%. Clearly, with traffic flows remaining constant, speeding and red light violations are way down. Injury accident rates are also DOWN 44% so far this year! This trend should, over time, offer LOWER AUTO INSURANCE RATES in the 86314 registration area for this inproved history. Obey the rules and benefit!

Navajo Road; Who Cares if it’s Finally IS Done!

March 13th, 2007

website1106-002.jpg   Started over two (2) years ago and is finally done. However, the Fain Event Center started the next day after approved (6-1) and it was done on time including parking lots and lights!

Why? Well, Mayor Skoog and the council approve what ever Mr. Tarkowski puts in front of them. From there the clout of the Fain Signature Group (FSG) assures maximum performance from the contractors and the town’s building inspectors.

What about Navajo? Why was it tore up numerous times? I thought we paid Dava and Associates (and other engineering firms) to be the on site engineer to see proper proceedures were followed! Clearly, we have a new road that has 50 plus violations of it’s surface plus 50 more repairs to concrete products and there are still more damaged walkways. The last delay was the lights that apparently were improperly wired when first installed. What were the engineers for?

Despite all this, Mr. Tarkowski and Mr. Davis, Public Works Manager, excused $462,000 in contractor penalties and blamed delays on the “weather“. Facts show a Less than normal rainfall period. The odds are, work on the event center pulled crews off the Navajo project. Mr. Tarkowski stated;” It was in the best interests of the town” ( to forgive the $462,000 in penaltys).

Only a town manager working for the citizens will correct such acts in the future.
