Principals Over Politics (POP)
March 18th, 2008
As a soon to be 70 year old man, I reflect back on my memories of politics. As a kid of 6-7 living on a farm in Lambertville, Michigan in 1944-45, I recall my grandfather Irv Robinson arguing against government telling him what to plant or not to plant. He hated it. On the other hand, as a result of his 4th grade education and his brother (Burt) ’s belonging to the Socialist’s Labor Party; we received the “Weekly People” and their articles on Karl Marx and I V Lenin. This was the “retail” organization of the Communist Party, USA which was started in Chicago in 1919.
Following WWII, I remember Dwight Eisenhower as president and some of his efforts to cut back the military-industrial complex and the thousands of military bases set up everywhere. Resistance to “cut - backs” came from everywhere as Aunt Minnie and Uncle Fred “worked” at these installations! Ike stuck by his guns, and closures occurred all across America. People were hungry for “things” after five years of war and money but nothing to spend it on. Early 1942 model cars were the last automobiles built as manufactures moved to built jeeps and tanks. Therefor, a pent up demand for consumer goods including new homes for delayed marriages and delayed families exploded onto the scene. In those days, we were all Patriotic Americans; Democrats and Republicans alike.
Now lets fast forward to 2008. The Democratic Party has been taken over by socialists who have been schooled by the Communist as they moved through large city public schools and entered the current breeding ground of world socialism; our college schools of “Social Studies - Public Administration and Journalism”. Later, Ethnic Studies brought us ‘Political Correctness” and the mantra; “Only white males who have run the Western World can be racist”. If you reflect on the major newspapers and major news networks over time, you see the “bias” of Political Correctness (PC) reflected in minor comments by prominent white men on people of color being ridiculed and even fired for their comments.
As the presidential election of 2008 moves closer, we now see efforts of socialism in America as it has “tainted” our choices. For the first time ever we have a woman, a black man and a white man as our choices. Certainly we can hope all the critical issues facing the USA will be discussed and enough people will be paying attention .
Are we paying attention or are we emotionally involved with the “theater” and emotional pleasure of electing a woman or a black man? Are we over looking history and the facts? We do so to our peril. Be alert to the bias favoring the “values of the PC crowd who populate most of the media outlets. Talk radio and cable news offer stark difference to this bias but are often overlooked.
Our choice for our next president does not include a principled position on energy independence or border closure or American values as we go forward. The socialist one worlders (D) have joined up with the world Capitalist (R) to the desecration of the United States of America. May God save the USA. As for me, as I enter my 70th year; I have seen a lot, but, I fear for future generations who have forgotten the sacrifices of the Fathers of our Country. Tom Steele Ed.
